Rethinking the jukebox

Rethinking the jukebox: UX design

Creatively expanding the jukebox concept.

Insight: A modern jukebox needs to be something more than just a machine. It needs to have a social aspect.

Strategy: Answer to the user’s needs and add value to the user, throughout the whole experience.

Solution: The modern jukebox is in your pocket, and allows you to choose music while at the bar. Before you go out, you can search for a bar through their music. At the bar you can see other people’s profiles  and connect with them. Afterwards, you can add the songs that where played during the night to your own Spotify-account.

A Hyper Island student project.

My role: Research, concept development, user research, prototyping, testing.

The UX process:

The process started with a trip to Copenhagen. To challenge or confirm our initial assumptions, we conducted research: observations and user interviews at the many jukebox bodegas.

The next step in the process was to create different personas and map their customer journey, in order to find friction points and opportunities.

Prototyping was in two stages: paper prototyping, which was iterated into a mobile prototype using the software P.o.p. The final result was wireframes.
